Canadian Totem Pole

In the western hemisphere, totem Poles are hand carved columns first
made by the early Indian tribes of the Northwest.
A totem is a carved wooden object, more often than not an animal
representing a family or a tribe. It symbolizes a symbolic relationship
between nature and humans. Totem poles often have very interesting
religious and historical meanings interpreted through the mythical
beings from the familial history.
